The workplace today is full of employees taking drugs for recreational reasons. And this is why there are regular or random drug testing being done in many companies today. Employess should know what to expect in a drug test so that they are prepared to take it. Most companies use the urine test for drug testing and while this is a common drug test that most employers use, employees have already found many ways of cheating their way out of a urine test. Urine tests are common used because it is cheap, fast, and effective although most employees today have found a way to cheat the results drinking lot of water to flush out the drug residue in their system. What will become of the urine drug test is a negative dilute test. There will be inaccurate results with diluted urine. There are employers who simply let this go but there are also those who will insist on a restest.

If you undergo a urine test it will be able to detect drug use from drug traces it can pick up used as far back as a week. There should be an immediate urine drug testing if an employer suspects drug use in the workplace.

There are many different kinds of drug tests that employers can use. Urine tests use a different number of panels. The number of panels indicates the number of drugs that are being tested for. Most employers use either the 6-panel or the 10-panel drug test. But you can also use a 16-panel drug test which tests for the widest variety of drugs.

Today, many companies are already switching to hair follicle drug tests. It gives more accurate results than urine tests. The test can track drug use back 90 to 120 days. An employee will be tested positive of drug use if he has taken drugs as far as 60 to 120 days. A hair follicle test can also reveal the employee’s history of drug taking. Hair follicle drug testing is difficult to cheat. Those taking the hair follicle test are not allowed to bring a loose sample of hair which could be switched. The sample of hair to be taken for drug analysis will come from the back of your head. Employees who have taken drugs the past 3 to 4 months and will take a hair follicle test can be tested positive for drug use and may be in trouble with their employment. It is more expensive to have a hair follicle drug test than a urine test.
